Christmas season has some of the best TV watching of all year round! Take advantage of it this year. And just imagine this does not have any of the Cartoons or kids Holiday specials. Here is my list of the top 10 Christmas movies of all time. What do you think?
10. The Polar Express (2004) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0338348/
Tom Hanks is all over the place in this movie. I think he plays like 7 or 8 different characters. An adaptation of the childrens book with some introductory strange technology that thankfully since has been fixed. For everyones sake. His mustache is just strange to me in this one.
9. Miracle on 34th Street (1947) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0039628/
The United States Postal Service saves the day! Yup, the USPS and the www.usps.com website I find to be very useful on a day to day basis. If this oldie but goodie does not make you a Christmas or Santa believer than I am not sure what will.
8. Bad Santa (2003) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0307987/
This is hilarious, you have to watch it. Santa is a burglar! Armed Robbery! Santa is vulgar! And he is also a very promiscous Santa! Bad, bad Santa. Please get the Directors cut.
7. The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0107688/
Some weird skinny guy with a white head by the name of Jack Skellington tries to take over Christmas. This is a good, but strange one folks. A Tim Burton movie… strange. Did I say strange?
6. Home Alone (1990) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0099785/
Nothing like watching a 9 year old beat the bag out of two would be home burglars for two hours, and I mean this is a ass kicking for sure. Kind of a strange role for Joe Pesci and this one certinaly put Macaulay Culkin on the map. Movie made like 500 million dollars in the first 23 seconds it was out too. True story.
5. Elf (2003) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0319343/
Buddy the Elf is played by Will Ferrel, wait… Will Ferrel being played as Buddy the Elf. Hmmm… Just another amazing character for Will Ferrel. This is entertainment for a 10 year old and entertainment for a 61 year old. And its directed by Jon Favreau. Good, good stuff. Buddy = great name for an Elf
4. National Lampoons Christmas Vacation (1989) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097958/
“Were do you plan on putting that Tree Clark?”, “Bend over and I’ll show you!” This movie has some of the best one liners of any movie, not just Christmas! When I start thinking of the Holidays come September this is what comes to mind. Chevy Chase is at the top of his game in this one and the Griswolds are one crazy family. Ummm… maybe dressing as Uncle Eddie next Halloween might be a good idea?
3. It’s a Wonderful Life (1946) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0038650/
The absolute classic of all classics for Christmas… Black and White. George saves the world, well I mean Bedford Falls… This movie actually completely failed at the Box office but 35 years later… its the feel good Christmas movie everyone needs to see. NBC rolls it out first weekend in December every year without fail.
2. Scrooged (1988) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096061/
Only Bill Murry could have played this miserable high level TV Executive. Certainly not on television as much as I would have liked. Again, Bill Murray is awesome in the flick. I love it. Checking to see if it is on now…
There is no surprise on this one… No surprise!
1. A Christmas Story (1983) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085334/
An amazing story for this hilarious little kids quest for a Red Ryder BB Gun… Ralphie!!! Frozen Tongues and Leg Lamps… “fragile… must be from France”. Not to mention this movie is on 24/7 on Chrstmas Day the best day to watch it!
